CBP Administrative Messages, Electronic Bulletin Board Notices, Etc

1. Steel License Filing Extension Due to Fire at Commerce Dept

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an administrative message stating that due to a fire at the Department of Commerce, entry summaries requiring a steel license from Commerce which were due June 1, 2004 have been granted a one day filing extension until June 2, 2004. (Adm: 04-1402, dated 06/02/04, available by fax by emailing documents@brokerpower.com)

2. Snowday for Detroit on Tuesday, June 1, 2004

CBP states that a snowday is being granted at the Port of Detroit, 3801, for Tuesday, June 1, 2004 due to a gas leak in the local area. As a result, CBP is extending one additional day without penalties for the filing and payment of entry summaries due that day. (Adm: 04-1403, dated 06/02/04, available by fax by emailing documents@brokerpower.com)

3. Reminder that Federal Holiday is July 5, 2004 (Not July 4th)

CBP is reminding filers that administrative message 03-2846 (dated 12/10/03) which listed the 2004 Federal Holidays, incorrectly listed Sunday, July 4, 2004 as a federal holiday, rather than Monday, July 5, 2004.

Administrative message 03-2846 was subsequently corrected by Administrative message 03-2877 (dated 12/12/03) to list July 5th as the federal holiday.

CBP reminds filers that they should ensure that they do not transmit July 5, 2004 as a statement print date for any entries due on that date. Filers should use July 6, 2004 as the next valid payment print date. (See ITT's Online Archives or 12/16/03 news, 03121620 for BP summary of CBP's original correction notice. Adm: 04-1382 (dated 06/01/04), available by fax by emailing documents@brokerpower.com)
