1. State Dept. Receives Application to Expand Port of Entry at Nogales, AZ
The State Department has issued a public notice announcing that it has received an application for a permit authorizing the construction, operation, and maintenance of two additional commercial cargo lanes at the Mariposa Port of Entry at Nogales, AZ. According to the State Department, this expansion would reconfigure the Mariposa Port and allow for the construction of two Free and Secure Trade (FAST) lanes. 2. International Telecommunication Advisory Committee Meetings
The State Department issued a public notice announcing that its U.S. International Telecommunication Advisory Committee (ITAC) was scheduled to meet on January 14, 2005 and February 2, 2005 in preparation for certain upcoming international telecommunication meetings in Geneva, Switzerland and Guatemala. 3. FSIS & FDA Held Public Meeting on Upcoming Codex Session on Food Labeling
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a notice announcing that a public meeting would be held from on January 19, 2005 in order to prepare for the upcoming 33rd Session of the Codex Committee on Food Labeling, which is scheduled to take place from May 9 -13, 2005 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. 4. FSIS & FDA Meeting on Agenda for April 2005 Codex Committee Meeting
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are sponsoring a public meeting on March 9, 2005 in College Park, MD to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items that will be discussed at the 37th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Additives and Contaminants, which will be held on April 25-29, 2005 in The Hague, the Netherlands. 5. International Telecommunication Advisory Committee to Meet
The State Department has announced that the International Telecommunication Advisory Committee (ITAC) will meet in February, March, April, and May 2005 to prepare for meetings of CITEL Permanent Consultative Committee I (PCC I), CITEL Permanent Executive Committee (COM/CITEL) and ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) Regional Preparatory Meetings. 6. Coast Guard's Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee Subcommittees Met
The Coast Guard announced meetings of Subcommittees of the Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 472 Standard, and on Hazardous Cargo Transportation Security (HCTS) on February 8 and 9, 2004 in Jeffersonville, IN to discuss security issues relating to the marine transportation of hazardous materials in bulk. 7. DEA Correction to Final Rule on Exemption of Certain Chemical Mixtures
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a technical correction to its December 15, 2004 final rule to exempt from certain recordkeeping and reporting requirements both domestic and import transactions in mixtures containing the List II chemicals acetone, ethyl ether, 2-butanone, and toluene.
