Canadian Government Notices as of Aug. 10
The Canada government issued the following trade-related notices as of Aug. 10 (some may also be given separate headlines):
- CBSA Statement of Reasons regarding expiry review determination for OCTG. The Canada Border Services Agency on Aug. 7 issued its Statement of Reasons under the Special Import Measures Act for its July 23, 2020, decision regarding the expiration of the April 2, 2015, finding that the dumping of certain oil country tubular goods originating in or exported from Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), India, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of certain OCTG originating in or exported from those countries.
- Conclusion of CBSA review of final determinations of dumping of certain OCTG and hot rolled steel plate. The Canada Border Services Agency on Aug. 7 continued its final determination under the Special Import Measures Act of dumping with respect to the dumping of certain oil country tubular goods originating in or exported from South Korea and Turkey, with amendments. CBSA terminated the dumping investigation regarding OCTG exported from South Korea by Hyundai Steel Company (formerly Hyundai Hysco Co. Ltd.) and OCTG exported from Turkey by Borusan Mannesmann Boru Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. The agency also continued its final determination of dumping with respect to certain hot‑rolled steel plate originating in or exported from South Korea, terminating the dumping investigation regarding hot‑rolled steel plate exported from South Korea by Hyundai Steel Company. As a result, OCTG exported to Canada from South Korea by Hyundai Steel and from Turkey by Borusan, as well as HRSP exported to Canada from South Korea by Hyundai Steel, will no longer be subject to antidumping duties. A Statement of Reasons will be issued by Aug. 22.
