ACE Drawback Enhancements Related to Petroleum Superfund Tax to Deploy Jan. 21

CBP will deploy enhancements to drawback functionality in ACE on Jan. 21. These enhancements pertain to petroleum superfund tax certification indicators and validations of oil spill tax and petroleum Superfund tax claims.

The changes are the following, according to a Dec. 13 cargo systems message:

• New certification indicator for petroleum Superfund tax drawback claims: Beginning on January 21, 2025, filers can electronically certify petroleum Superfund tax drawback claims. Filers must use an electronic Superfund Tax Certification Indicator when submitting Superfund Tax claims for the claims to be accepted by ACE.
• New validations and associated error messages: When applicable, ACE will validate that a petroleum Superfund tax drawback claim has been certified. For missed or incorrect application of the certification, ACE will send applicable error messaging. CBP also enhanced validations for reviewing Oil Spill Tax and Superfund tax claim amounts. For incorrect claim amounts, ACE will send applicable error messaging.

These changes are currently available in the certification software testing environment, CBP said.
