It's been a week since my official layoff date from my job. In the past, being unemployed absolutely terrified me. My inner critic would be relentless about how long it would take to find a new job, how whatever job I did find would be a step down, or how I’d never have the level of satisfaction for my job I had in my last role. That never happened. Each job I’ve had has been better than the one I left. I have consistently worked with great people and felt pride in what I’ve done. While I’m not exactly comfortable being unemployed this time, I am finding interesting jobs available. Let’s say I’m cautiously optimistic. How are you doing? After months of searching, applying, and preparing, I know how disheartening it can be to face rejections or lack of responses despite having relevant skills and experience. But I believe challenges like these are also opportunities to grow, adapt, and explore new avenues. They remind us to sharpen our skills, embrace learning, and remain resilient. For me, this period has been about reflection and upskilling. I've been honing my technical expertise, diving deeper into SQL, and revisiting my IT networking knowledge. I’m also leveraging my 4+ years of experience in BPO, technical support, and quality analysis to position myself for roles where I can contribute and grow. To my network: If you have any advice, opportunities, or even words of encouragement, they would mean a lot. Now 10 days into a forced career move, I've found immense value in the support and encouragement received from many. It's humbling to hear others share experiences that resonate with my own emotions and struggles. Maintaining productivity is crucial during this transition. A structured list of tasks, from networking to updating my resume, keeps me focused and motivated. Prioritizing high-energy tasks in the mornings and enjoying activities like golf and quality time with loved ones help me stay balanced. While the absence of team collaboration is a noticeable shift, connecting with friends and colleagues reminds me that this phase is temporary. Small wins and a supportive network play a significant role in combating self-doubt and fear during career transitions. Grateful for a friend who recommended the book "Never Search Alone" by Phyl Terry, highlighting that insecurity, fear, and anxiety are common in job searching. First chapter also talks about how important it is to "ask for help." Remember, leaning on others for support is essential – that's what community is all about. I look forward to joining a JSC (Job Search Council) and embracing the journey ahead with resilience

As I settle in to my second day at Nsight Health, I wanted to do two things. First, I want to thank Justin Webster for the referral that landed me this role, along with everyone else who referred me or put in a good word for me. Most of my meaningful interviews and all of my offers came from referrals, and many specifically from connections I met 9 or more years ago. So I can’t stress enough, ESPECIALLY for those just starting out, how important those early career connections are! Stay in touch with each other, and take care of each other. Connections are the key to finding anything of value in the current market. Second, I scoured LinkedIn for new opportunities daily, and I want you all to get the benefit of the algorithm still sending me a constant flow of open roles. So, if I see any #customersuccess roles I myself would have looked into, I will share them for those still looking. My goal is to share at least 2 per day, for as long as the algorithm gives them to me, so stay tuned :). And additionally, as soon as I know of open roles at Nsight, I’ll share them as well, and I’d be happy to refer :). It's been a couple of weeks since I was part of a mass layoff. Despite having over 8 years of experience, including work in AI, the search has been eye-opening and, frankly, tough. For the past two weeks, I've dedicated 8-10 hours daily to job searching and applications. The result so far? Not a single callback. It's a stark reminder of just how competitive the market is right now. Every job I apply to has 100+ applicants. It's insane out there. Seems like the only way to get your foot in the door is to know someone. Cold applications just get lost in the sea of applications. Despite the challenges, I remain optimistic. This is a moment for resilience, continuous learning, and perhaps, reinvention. It's also a reminder of the importance of building and maintaining professional relationships. To my network: I'm looking for roles in Product Management. Any leads or intros would be a lifesaver right now. I'd be incredibly grateful for any leads or connections.
